We are an out-of-network provider. We will provide “superbills” upon request to clients who have out-of-network benefits. Clients are responsible for submitting their superbill and communicating with their insurance company.
As an out-of-network provider, we are better equipped for providing comprehensive, accessible, and neurodiversity affirming services. We have the freedom to determine when treatment occurs, for how long, and what types of interventions are medically necessary. We also get to work within the social model of disability, allowing us to implement a holistic, strengths-based approach to therapy.
While we have a strong focus on supporting 0-13 year olds, our range of services is structured to support individuals across the life span. Contact us to book a consultation to see if our services are a good fit for you.
1:1 services can occur in-home or in the community. We default to providing services in your home, unless explicitly arranged otherwise. You can collaborate with your therapist on arranging a community-based session. Our goal is to conduct sessions in the best-fit location for you.
Mobile therapy allows therapists to tailor treatments in ways not possible in clinical spaces. Therapists see the client in everyday environments and develop treatment plans that are directly applicable to daily routines, community events, and/or family hobbies. Therapists can use the client’s favorite toys or activities, work in a favorite space, and have family members join in throughout treatment sessions. Taking therapy out of the clinic allows for hypothetical ideas to turn into real-life action.
We are a Seattle-based business and provide services within a designated radius to maximize time spent providing direct treatment and limit time spent commuting. If your home is outside of our radius, contact us to book a consultation to determine best-fit. If we agree to provide services outside of the radius, we charge a mileage fee to account for additional time spent commuting. Prior to beginning services, a written estimate of this charge will be provided to you by your treating therapist.
If the client is under the age of 18, a parent or designated caregiver must be on the premises at all times during your occupational therapy or speech session. How much a parent will be involved in the session will depend on the client’s comfort level and the client/family needs and goals. A parent’s involvement in therapy may evolve over the course of treatment. You can collaborate with your therapist about how to best engage in therapy.
Child-driven therapy focuses on skill building through self-directed play. A meta-analysis conducted by Cambridge University (a study that analyzed the results of other studies), found that learning through ‘guided play’ can be as effective, if not better, than direct instruction (Skene, et. al, 2022; https://doi.org/10.1111/cdev.13730). By following your child’s lead in authentic play, we are 1) protecting play’s necessary role in development 2) fostering meaningful learning and connecting skill building back to joy.
It depends! If you plan to submit superbills to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement, a doctor’s referral to occupational therapy and/or speech therapy is necessary. Contact us if you need support obtaining a referral.
